Job Description
Overall Job Purpose
Africa Technology CIB provides technology support to the organisation's Corporate and Investment banking sectors. Activities are grouped into three areas, namely Markets, Corporate and Investment Banking. The Prime Services IT team is responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of all Post Trade vendor and bespoke application suites that fall within the Markets business area.

About the position:

We are looking for Senior .NET Developer Lead with over 8 years hands on experience in the software industry, to come and join a small, smart and dynamic team of .NET Software Developers, who pride themselves in building software products for Prime Services Business within CIB. The Lead Developer must have knowledge of complete product lifecycle through, requirements, analysis, data modeling and design, development, testing, documentation, and delivery of projects using Agile Scrum methodology. The Lead Developer will be responsible for guiding, coaching and motivating the team, while ensuring a high service level for Prime Services business.

Education and experience required:
  • Tertiary qualification would be highly advantageous
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience using .NET technology stack such as (Web API, MVC, .NET4.5, .NET Core, WCF, Unity)
  • Must have a good grasp of design principles (Solid, GOF Patterns and etc)
  • Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns
  • Familiarity with standard SDLC process and Agile/Scrum Methodology
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Familiarity with versioning control tools {{such as Git, TFS and etc}}
  • Must be able to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug system and their various integration points
  • Good knowledge in writing SQL scripts, stored procedures and database design
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2008/12/14
  • Knowledge CI Tools e.g. TeamCity, Jenkins and etc. a plus
  • Knowledge CD Tools e.g. Octopus Deploy, Azure and etc. a plus
  • Knowledge of Monitoring tools e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic a plus
  • Knowledge of SSIS development a plus
  • Exposure to Non-Microsoft DB technologies a plus (MySQL, MongoDB, Hadoop etc.)

Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating the Technical Strategy to address immediate and future deliverables for the business
  • Assist the team with PD objectives, tracking progress, feedback and etc.
  • Providing technical guidance to the dev team on BAU items and Projects deliverables
  • Ensure Developers comply with established development standards and procedures
  • Assisting Scrum Master with prioritization and planning prior to new sprint
  • Work alongside System Architecture as needed to define low-level to mid-level design and tech consideration.
  • Participate in Weekly Sprints dong Dev, Code Review, Tech Debt and providing general guidance
  • Provide business with feedback as needed on Tech deliverables impacting their work or timelines
  • Provide Technical Manager with status update on tech initiatives, project deliverables and etc.
  • Conducting interviews with the Team for sourcing new talents needed in the team
  • Collaborate with IT/Business for any technical assistance required
  • Participate in agile methodologies and practices as agreed within the team
  • Complete any technical documentation impacting the work done
  • Determine the most effective and efficient software design to meet the specifications
  • Ensure work done adheres to quality guidelines and standards for all activities (e.g. naming conventions, code comments) as agreed in the team
  • Assist (Project Coordinator / Team) with performing the required estimations inline to the work identified
  • Participate in software release and post-release activities
  • Identify issues within the current bespoke products and suggest improvements
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automation
  • Provide technical guidance as needed by the team
