The Role Responsibilities
Management and Financial reporting
• Review and approval of monthly Africa Regional office (ARO) management accounts and quarterly financial accounts
• Ensure timely submission of the reports to Group working closely with GFS teams
• Review of ARO trial balance to ensure accuracy of the General ledger
• Ensure proper reconciliation and substantiation of ARO balance sheet monthly
• Manage the ARO cost centre (CC) creation, closures, and be the CC co-ordinator
• Ensure completion on ARO CST and relevant KPI working closely with the country Finance operational risk manager
• Establish and maintain a strong controls environment for the ARO finance operations
• Contribute to ARO budgets and forecast working closely with GFS and AME FP & A
Accounts Payable
Recons
• Perform sundry and suspense accounts reconciliations as per the FCP guidelines.
• Investigate un-reconciling items and ensure the clearance of outstanding items on time
• Timely escalation of all outstanding items as per the escalation grid.
• Timely clearance of ARO Non-resident account
Processing:
•
Perform and monitor suppliers’ payments to ensure that all invoices
received in finance are settled on time with correct authorization
levels.
• Ensure timely settlement of cross-border recharges/ SODA and scope invoices with proper authorization
•
Accurate record keeping of the above and ensure that all audit trail
reports generated in PSGL, vouchers and invoices are properly filed and
readily available for audit.
• Assist in ensuring ARO journals from BU 190 are sent on time and posted accurately.
Operational Risk management:
• Report any potential operational risks.
• Prepare monthly FORTM pack
• To identify and report all exceptions on noncompliance with standard controls
• To identify and report all weaknesses inherent in the standard controls
Audits
• Coordination of internal and external regulatory audits and reviews relating to ARO
Operational Risk Management
• Establish and maintain a strong controls environment
• To adhere to the agreed CST plans and approach; identifying and reporting all exceptions on non- compliance with standard controls.
• Maintain up to date DOIs for all processes.

• A university degree in Accounting or studying towards a qualification in Accounting and Finance
• At least two years work experience in a busy financial reporting department of a commercial organisation.
• A sound knowledge of the Group Accounting practice and statutory requirements
• High level of experience in working with computerised Accounting/Banking systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a busy and strenuous environment.
• Good understanding of banking practice
